Justice Gregory Johnson, a Waco native, was raised by his single mother who, at an early age, instilled in him the importance of hard work, being fair and honest, and serving others in need. He has carried these values with him throughout his journey of life and they have served as the strong foundation in all of his undertakings. Justice Johnson learned throughout this journey, that just because he grew up financially disadvantaged and at many times homeless, it didn’t mean that the sky was the limit. He lives and breathes public service and volunteerism and is passionate about continuing to improve his community through hard work and selfless service to others.

Justice Johnson is a dedicated public servant with over 20 years of experience in business management, community development and public policy, and criminal justice. He is serving his first term as Bell County Justice of the Peace and has worked tirelessly to ensure Bell County is the place where people want to work, play and grow their families. He has served on the Killeen City Council, Killeen – Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization, Central Texas Council of Governments and the Development District of Central Texas. In addition, Justice Johnson has served in leadership roles with several nonprofits and trade organizations. Previously, he served on the Killeen Planning and Zoning Commission, Killeen Housing Authority, as well as president of the Apartment Association of Central Texas and the Texas Army National Guard where he deployed overseas to Kosovo in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

After more than ten years of dedicated public service to the citizens of Killeen and Bell County, Justice Johnson announced his candidacy of re-election for Bell County Justice of the Peace. As an active public servant dedicated to fairness and justice for all, his has worked over the past three years to stabilize and restore justice and fairness to the Precinct 4, Place 1 Justice Court. His three years on the bench, four years of experience in filing and arguing cases in JP court as a pro se litigant, strong foundation of being fair and just, and stellar track record of making important decisions on various city matters based on sound reasoning, facts and good judgement has been key to achieving this goal.

Justice Johnson is an expert in landlord – tenant issues, and small and debt claims, which make up a majority of JP Pct. 4 court cases. Over the past three years, he has presided over hundreds of civil and criminal trials. He is a certified apartment manager, certified apartment portfolio supervisor and has mediated dozens of landlord – tenant issues. Justice Johnson has regularly attended courses and trainings at the National Judicial College and the Texas Justice Court Training Center. He understands the Texas Property Code, Rules of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Rules of Evidence and other pertinent rules governing Justice Courts. He has a thorough knowledge of JP civil and criminal proceedings, inquests and setting fair bail bonds. Justice Johnson is proud to call Killeen his home and would be honored to serve a second term as Bell County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1.
